Pawsome Ways to Celebrate Dog Parent's Day: Honoring the Bond with Your Furry Best Friend

If you're a proud dog owner, you know that our furry friends are more than just pets—they're family! And just like humans, dog parents deserve to be celebrated, too! That's why we have a few special days dedicated to honoring the bond between a mom/dad and their pup.

In case your were wondering, Dog Parent's Day is celebrated in April, Dog Mom's Day falls on the second Saturday of May, right before Mother's Day, and Dog Dad's Day is celebrated in June. Each are days to recognize all the love, care, and dedication that goes into being a dog owner. Whether you adopted your dog or raised them from a puppy, you know the joy and fulfillment that comes with being a dog parent. It's an incredible bond!

On these National Dog Days, use them as an excuse to take some extra time to pamper your pup and show them just how much you appreciate them. Maybe take them on a long walk, give them a special treat, or just spend some extra cuddle time with them.

But, don't forget to celebrate yourself too! Being a dog owner can be challenging, but it's also incredibly rewarding. Take some time to reflect on all the ways your pup has enriched your life, and feel proud of the loving and nurturing dog parent you've become.

Regardless of the day's title, it's a PAWfect opportunity to celebrate the very special bond you have with your furry friend. In case you're looking for some fun and creative ways to spend these days with your pup...

1. TAKE A WALK (OR A HIKE!) TOGETHER

Your dog will love the fresh air, exercise and time spent with you! Make sure to pick somewhere (a trail or sidewalk nearby) that works for both of you.You might want to pack a few snacks and water for your adventure because let's be real, a snack break is always a good idea!

2. SHARE A HOME BAKED TREAT

Let's be real, who doesn't love a yummy home-baked treat? Bake yourself your favorite cookies and make some easy Dough ReMia’s Doggie Dough treats for your dog or find another favorite recipe (check out our previous blogs for some ideas. Links below). If you want to make it even more special, pack a blanket and go on a picnic (even if it’s only in your own backyard or porch!) Seriously, what’s cozier than lounging and snacking with your best friend?

3. PLAN A DOGGIE PLAYDATE

Set up a playdate with your pup and other dog parents in your life. Meet at a park, your house, some of the new dog-friendly restaurants in your neighborhood, etc. Bring a few toys for them to play with and you can spend quality time with all of your BFFs at the same time! Sit outside watching your dogs frolic while you chat, sip a favorite beverage and enjoy the moment. Does it get much better?

4. CAPTURE THE MOMENT

Capture a special Dog Parent moment, whether you take a selfie, use the timer feature on your phone/camera, or hire a professional photographer. You will truly appreciate looking at it down the road and seeing your special bond- It will always make you smile! 5. SNUGGLE & CUDDLE

Snuggling with your pup always makes everything better, and Dog Parents Day is no exception! Take advantage of lounging on the couch or snuggling in bed for a little longer than usual. Why not watch a favorite movie together? A dog themed movie is even better: Secret Life of Pets, A Dog’s Purpose, Because of Winn Dixie, Benji, Marley and Me, Homeward Bound, Beethoven… the list goes on and on! Pop some popcorn and bring some treats for your pup, too. Get super cozy together- a great excuse to be a couch potato!

6. GO SHOPPING!

Treat yourself to gifts for you and your furry friend at a dog-friendly store! Find local pet stores that allow you to bring your dog (or even an outdoor Farmer's Market.) Or, you can always shop online with your furry friend curled under your feet. (Dog + Shopping= Bliss!) You can also surprise another special dog parent in your life with an e-Gift Card to pick out something to spoil their pup or themself from their favorite store. Share the love!

Remember, the most important thing is to spend quality time with your furry friend and celebrate the love you share. So, to all the dog parents out there: Happy Dog Parent's/Mom's Day/Dad's Day! Your love and devotion to your furry friend is something to be celebrated and cherished. We know you give it your all, and always with your whole heart! Happy Dog Owners Day!
